This technique works like all other encryption techniques by using a key to encrypt data and an encrypting algorithms to transform data into ciphertext before storing it on a cloud. Multiple cloud providers offer Cloud Encryption services but sometimes these encrypting services result in excessive cost for the user because encrypting all of the data present in the database of the user involves more utilizations of related resources. In order to avoid this excessive cost, it is preferable to encrypt only critical and confidential data like usernames and passwords before storing that data on a cloud. Apart from this, some techniques like obfuscation or redaction of data can be used for encrypting only confidential information to avoid excessive cost of cloud encryption.
