What is Reuse and Recycle?
Definition of Reuse and Recycle
Reuse and Recycle are the two essential components of R3 hierarchy that is a theory to promote environment-friendly human behavior.
Explanation:
R3 theory is composed of three Rs i.e. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. The first R i.e. Reduce means that consumers should reduce the amount of IT devices to reduce the impact of such devices on the environment. For an instance, one laptop or computer system is enough for two persons living at same place instead of each having a separate system. The second R i.e. Reuse means consumers should ensure the reuse of each and every IT device instead of wasting it in order to minimize its impact on environment. For example, instead of replacing an entire computer system, it is better to upgrade that system by replacing few components of it and instead of wasting those replaced components, one can donate those components to someone needy to ensure their reuse. The third R of R3 theory represents the Recycle concept. Recycle means to make things reusable again after going through some processing. There are some organizations like StRUT (Students Recycling Used Technology) which recycle the IT hardware and their components to make them reusable. Consumers should donate their extra or old systems to such organizations to make them reusable after recycling process hence minimizing their impact on the environment.
