Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) is a cloud based relational database management system (RDBMS) service – hosted, managed and delivered by Amazon. Amazon RDS is part of the Amazon Web Services suite that enables in setting up and operating a relational database System on the cloud. It is built-in with same functionality & features of a conventional RDBMS but with managed database administration and maintenance.

Amazon Relational Database Service enables its users and subscribers to design, create and deploy a powerful database management solution. Amazon RDS supports and provides the ability to create a database instance in the cloud, which can be configured and deployed with MySQL or Oracle database. Amazon RDS manages the patching & updating of the database as well as providing scalability for managing the storage & computing resources.
