What is Open Compute Project?
Definition of Open Compute Project
The Open Compute Project is an enterprise begun by Facebook to distribute more effective server and data center projects through the general information technology (IT) business.
Brief Explanation of Open Compute Project
The project sprung from Facebookâs determination to custom create and design servers, software and different data center mechanisms in order to handle the constantly rising demands being placed upon its infrastructure. Majority of the data centers buy and utilize a huge number of cheap servers that have a general purpose. This method can create huge hardware issues, along with significant cooling and power requirements. The Open Commute Project now includes members from Goldman Sachs, Rackspace and Arista Networks. This community has made joint efforts with other similar software projects in order to assist the development of energy efficient servers, an evaporative cooling system and a 100% air-side economizer.
