Concept of Server consolidation is used to fulfill the multiple needs of server resources within organization economically.

A single server resource is shared among the all needing applications and services instead of assigning a separate server to each application or service.

Generally, less than 20 of server’s capacity are utilized when it is occupied by a single or two applications. But in case of server consolidation, multiple services or applications are assigned to a single server which maximizes the capacity utilization of that server.

In this way the hardware cost of multiple servers is also reduced and a single server is used to fulfill the resource need of all residing applications and services.
